
R.K. Sandill (Democrat Challenger)
R.K. Sandill is judge of the 127th District Court in Harris County. He is a former briefing attorney on Texas’ First Court of Appeals, and served as an intern on President Bill Clinton’s Council of Economic Advisors.
Sandill received a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, where he was editor of the Houston Journal of International Law. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2001.

John Devine (Republican Incumbent)
Justice John Devine has served in Place 4 on the Texas Supreme Court since 2013. He was formerly special judge to the Harris County Justice of the Peace courts and district judge of the 190th Judicial District Court of Harris County.
Devine received a bachelor’s of business administration and marketing from Ball State University and a law degree from the South Texas College of Law. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1987.
