TLRPAC Endorses Trent Ashby for SD 3

Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Representative Trent Ashby for election in Senate District 3, which serves all of Anderson, Angelina, Cherokee, Hardin, Henderson, Houston, Jasper, Liberty, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Trinity and Tyler counties, and a portion of Jefferson County.

Ashby currently serves as Chair of the House Committee on S/C on Academic and Career-Oriented Education, and is a member on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the House Committee on Public Education.

“Trent Ashby is a proven conservative who has served East and Southeast Texas communities in the Texas House of Representatives for over a decade,” TLR President Lee Parsley said on behalf of TLRPAC. “Trent is someone who understands the importance of maintaining a fair, efficient and transparent legal system – for the ultimate benefit of Texas taxpayers and their families, and so that Texas’s economy continues to flourish. TLRPAC is proud to support him.”

Ashby was recognized by his colleagues in the Republican Caucus as the “Freshman of the Year” at the completion of his first Texas legislative session and was selected after his second session as the “Most Valuable Sophomore in the Texas House” by Capitol Inside.

Born and raised on a dairy farm and diversified livestock operation in Rusk County, Ashby is proud of his rural background and upbringing.

Ashby is Senior Vice President for VeraBank. He and his wife, Nickie, live in Lufkin where they raised their two sons — Garin and Grant — who are both in college. Prior to being elected to the Legislature, Ashby served as President of the Lufkin ISD Board of Trustees.

TLRPAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), the largest civil justice reform organization in Texas. TLR’s mission is to foster freedom, innovation, and job creation by advocating for a fair, efficient and predictable civil justice system led by competent and independent judges who apply the constitution and laws as written.
