TLRPAC Endorses Rocky Thigpen for HD 9

Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today announced its endorsement of Rocky Thigpen for House District (HD) 9, which covers all of Angelina, Houston, Polk, San Augustine, Trinity and Tyler counties.

“A longtime community leader and Angelina County native, Rocky Thigpen has been serving his East Texas community – including all six counties of HD 9 – for many years. Before retiring in 2018, Rocky was a sergeant with the Texas Department of Public Safety, patrolling every county in the district,” TLR President Lee Parsley said on behalf of TLRPAC. “Rocky brings to this race an admirable record of public service – in uniform and in elected office. He has a first-hand understanding of the dire need for a fair and balanced civil justice system in Texas, and we believe Rocky will make an impact on day one. TLRPAC is proud to support him.”

A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Thigpen previously served as a city council member and previously represented Precinct 1 on the Angelina County Commissioners Court. His past civic involvement includes service on the Planning and Zoning Board, as President of the Board of Crime Stoppers of Lufkin, as a member of the Airport Advisory Board, on the State Bar of Texas District 2B Grievance Committee and the Mosaic Center board.

In addition to his public service, Thigpen is Vice President of the Texas Division of Overseas Hardwoods Company, an importer and distributor of high-performance lumber products, where he oversees day-to-day operations and sales.

Among other priorities, Thigpen’s campaign is committed to securing the border, cutting property taxes, safeguarding parental rights and protecting East Texas’s water resources.

TLRPAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), the largest civil justice reform organization in Texas. TLR’s mission is to foster freedom, innovation, and job creation by advocating for a fair, efficient and predictable civil justice system led by competent and independent judges who apply the constitution and laws as written.
