AUSTIN – Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Katy Boatman of Houston in her campaign for Place 7 on the First Court of Appeals in Harris County and nine surrounding counties.
“Each election cycle, TLRPAC supports judicial candidates who understand the importance of a fair, efficient and honest legal system to Texas families and businesses,” TLRPAC Chairman Richard J. Trabulsi Jr. said. “Katy Boatman’s experience as a litigator and appellate specialist, coupled with her commitment to upholding the integrity of our Constitution and our legal system, make her superbly qualified to serve in Place 7 on the First Court of Appeals.”
Boatman received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the Baylor Law School, where she graduated with honors and served as executive editor of the Baylor Law Review. She clerked for Texas Supreme Court Justice Dale Wainwright and U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Justice Jennifer Elrod. Boatman has spent her career since then as an appellate specialist at Andrews Kurth Kenyon LLP, regularly practicing in front of the First Court of Appeals.
In 2016, Boatman was named the National, Texas and Houston Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year—the only lawyer from Houston to ever receive all three awards. She is a member of the Federalist Society and a past member of the Texas and Houston Young Lawyers associations boards of Directors. She is a volunteer with the Yellowstone Academy and The Women’s Home.
TLRPAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), the largest civil justice reform organization in Texas. TLR is a bipartisan, volunteer-led coalition with 16,300 supporters residing in more than 900 Texas communities and representing 1,255 different businesses, professions and trades.
