AUSTIN – Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Katy Boatman of Houston for Place 6 on the 14th Court of Appeals, which covers Harris County and nine surrounding counties. The election will be in 2024.
“Texas judges make critical decisions every day that impact our families and our freedoms, particularly on our intermediate appellate courts, which are often the last stop for some of the most consequential decisions affecting our state,” TLRPAC General Counsel Lee Parsley said. “We need judges who are experienced, qualified and committed to applying our laws as-written. Katy Boatman brings significant litigation and appellate experience, and a critical commitment to upholding the integrity of our Constitution and our legal system. TLRPAC is proud to endorse her.”
Boatman is counsel in the Houston office of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP. She has extensive experience in both state and federal courts litigating constitutional and election issues, commercial, oil and gas, and copyright disputes, among other matters. In 2016, Boatman was the sole recipient of the American Bar Association’s National Outstanding Young Lawyers Award, Outstanding Young Lawyer of Houston Award, and the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Texas.
Boatman received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the Baylor University Law School, where she graduated with honors and served as executive editor of the Baylor Law Review. She clerked for Texas Supreme Court Justice Dale Wainwright and U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Jennifer Elrod. Boatman is board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
