(Houston, TX) Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC has endorsed Judge Debra Ibarra Mayfield for the 165th District Court. In making the endorsement, TLRPAC Board President Richard J. Trabulsi, Jr., said:
“Judge Mayfield has demonstrated that she has the legal experience, conservative principles and professional temperament to serve effectively on the District Court. TLRPAC is proud to endorse her.”
Governor Greg Abbott appointed Judge Mayfield to the 165th District Court in May and her appointment was unanimously approved by the State Senate. Prior to her appointment, she was Judge of the Harris County Civil Court at Law Number One where she served with distinction. She was selected by her peers to serve as the Administrative Judge of the County Civil Courts. She also served the civil courts in other capacities, including as a guardian ad litem protecting the interests of minor children, often to Spanish-only speaking families. Part of the first generation in her family to attend college, Judge Mayfield is the first Latina County Court at Law judge elected in Harris County.
Judge Mayfield is a past president of the Mexican American Bar Association of Houston and received the 2014 “Public Service Award” from South Texas College School of Law. Judge Mayfield received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and her law degree from South Texas College of Law.
