AUSTIN—Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Joanne Shofner in the Republican Primary for House District 11, which covers Nacogdoches, Newton, Panola, Rusk, Sabine and Shelby counties.
“TLRPAC supports candidates who understand that a fair and efficient legal system is a critical pillar of the Texas Miracle,” TLRPAC Chairman Dick Weekley said. “Joanne Shofner is a principled conservative who will be a strong voice in Austin for the values and priorities of HD 11. Whether through her tenure as president of the Nacogdoches Republican Women, her service on the Nacogdoches Historical Landmark Preservation Committee or her work coaching women recovering from traumatic situations, Joanne Shofner is deeply committed to serving her community with integrity, and fighting for common-sense conservative principles in the Legislature. TLRPAC is proud to support her.”
Shofner is running against Rep. Travis Clardy, who has held the seat since 2013, and has often voted against and worked to water down or defeat critical TLR-supported legislation to correct serious imbalances in the civil justice system.
Shofner is a seventh generation Texan, small business owner and trained Christian Life Coach. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she was a manager for Hyatt Hotels. Shofner received a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership.
TLRPAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), the largest civil justice reform organization in Texas. TLR is a bipartisan, volunteer-led coalition with 16,300 supporters residing in more than 900 Texas communities and representing 1,255 different businesses, professions and trades.
