AUSTIN—Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Dr. Dawn Buckingham in her campaign for Texas Land Commissioner:
“The Texas land commissioner plays a critical role in our state, from protecting our public lands and historical sites, to overseeing disaster recovery and public school funding through the Permanent School Fund, to managing our state’s coastline and administering benefits to veterans,” TLRPAC Chairman Richard J. Trabulsi Jr. said. “Since her historic election to the Texas Senate in 2016, Dr. Buckingham has established herself as a strong leader, focusing on public education, border security and strengthening Texas’ economic foundation. She is accomplished in the practice of medicine and in community and public service. Dr. Buckingham’s abilities and experience enable her to be an excellent land commissioner. TLRPAC is proud to support her.”
Dr. Buckingham is the first Republican from Travis County ever elected to the Texas Senate and the first woman ever elected to represent Senate District 24. Following her first session in 2017, when she was named the Co-Most Valuable Freshman, she became the first legislator ever to be named to the Sunset Advisory Commission after previously serving as a public member. In 2019, Dr. Buckingham became the first person in 58 years with two years or less experience to be named chair of the Senate Nominations Committee, where she was responsible for the review of Gov. Greg Abbott’s appointees to agencies and boards across state government.
Dr. Buckingham is a seventh generation Texan and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas Medical Branch. She served as a volunteer firefighter and is a graduate of the Texas A&M Fire School. She is also an avid hunter and outdoorswoman.
