TLRPAC Endorses Brad Hart for 14th Court of Appeals

AUSTIN—Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Brad Hart of Houston for Place 8 on the 14th Court of Appeals, which covers Harris County and nine surrounding counties.

“Texas judges make critical decisions every day that impact our families and our freedoms, particularly on our intermediate appellate courts, which are often the last stop for some of the most consequential decisions affecting our state,TLRPAC General Counsel Lee Parsley said. Brad Harts record as a former Harris County judge and a prosecutor in both Harris and Fort Bend counties is proof he is committed to serving his community and upholding the rule of law. TLRPAC is proud to endorse him.

Hart is division chief with the Fort Bend County District Attorneys Office. He was appointed in 2013 by Gov. Rick Perry as judge of the 230th Criminal District Court, and was elected to a full term in 2014. As judge, Hart was consistently the preferred candidate in the Houston Bar Association Preference Poll and scored in the top of his peer group in the Houston Bar Association Qualification Poll. Hart was named Judge of the Year by the Texas Gang Investigators Association for his outstanding contributions in the battle against gangs and organized crime.

Hart also formerly held a number of positions in the Harris County District Attorneys Office, including chief of the Felony District Courts and Major Offenders Division and deputy chief of the Misdemeanor Division. He also served in the Family Violence Division, Crimes Against Children Division and Organized Crime Unit.

As a prosecutor, Hart has handled thousands of cases—the majority of which are felonies—including securing the conviction of a man who shot a Houston Police Officer in the face. He has tried more than 100 jury trials, including securing trial convictions in six capital murder cases. For his work, the Texas Narcotics Officers Association named Hart Prosecutor of the Year.

Hart received a bachelors degree from Baylor University and a law degree from the South Texas College of Law.

TLRPAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), the largest civil justice reform organization in Texas.
