AUSTIN—Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Bert Richardson of San Antonio for reelection to the Place 3 on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

“Each election cycle, TLRPAC supports judicial candidates who respect the rule of law and understand the importance of a fair and efficient legal system in our state,” TLRPAC General Counsel Lee Parsley said. “Texas’ highest criminal court is one of the busiest appellate courts in the United States, reviewing trial court decisions in complex and sensitive cases. Service on the court requires dedicated judges with experience and expertise in criminal matters. Bert Richardson is the most qualified individual for this seat, with more than 20 years’ experience as a judge, board certification in criminal law, and experience overseeing more than 50 death penalty cases, hundreds of appeals and 10 actual innocence cases. He is committed to upholding the rule of law and applying the laws as-written in every case.”

Richardson was elected to the Court of Criminal Appeals in 2014. He received a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a law degree from St. Mary’s University Law School. He served as judge of the 379^th District court from 1999-2008. He has served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, an assistant district attorney in Bexar County and as an adjunct law professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law and San Antonio College.

Richardson is board certified in criminal law, and is admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. He was named a distinguished law graduate by St. Mary’s School of Law in 2015.
