AUSTIN – Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Andrew Johnson of Houston for Place 6 on the First Court of Appeals, which covers Harris County and nine surrounding counties.
“Texas judges make critical decisions every day that impact our families and our freedoms, particularly on our intermediate appellate courts, which are often the last stop for some of the most consequential decisions affecting our state,” TLRPAC General Counsel Lee Parsley said. “We need judges who are experienced, qualified and committed to applying our laws as-written. Andrew Johnson is a deeply experienced civil litigator, handling complex litigation and appeals for a variety of clients from real estate to financial services. His background as a staff attorney on Houston’s 14th Court of Appeals—where he wrote more than 100 proposed opinions, including in complex civil appeals—gives him valuable insight to the inner workings of these active courts. TLRPAC is proud to support him.”
Johnson is the appellate litigation vice chair at Thompson Coe, where he often argues before courts of appeals. He represents individuals and companies in cases involving products liability, professional liability, premises liability, general casualty and commercial disputes. Johnson handles legal matters in Texas state and federal trial and appellate courts, and proceedings before the State Bar of Texas Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel and the Texas Real Estate Commission. He has substantial experience drafting appellate briefs, original proceedings, summary judgment motions, motions to dismiss, post-arbitration motions, jury charges and expert-related motions.
Johnson received a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Texas State University and a law degree cum laude from the St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi and articles editor for the St. Mary’s Law Journal.
TLRPAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), the largest civil justice reform organization in Texas. TLR is a bipartisan, volunteer-led coalition with 16,300 supporters residing in more than 900 Texas communities and representing 1,255 different businesses, professions and trades.
