Sarah Beth Landau (Democrat Challenger)
Sarah Beth Landau is an assistant public defender in the Harris County. She is an adjunct law professor at Texas Southern University and a former assistant federal public defender. She clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Landau received a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a law degree from Columbia University School of Law. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2002.
Harvey G. Brown (Republican Incumbent)
Justice Harvey G. Brown has served in Place 6 on the First Court of Appeals since 2010. He is a former judge on the 152nd Civil District Court of Harris County, and a former partner at Sewell and Riggs. He is also a former adjunct professor at the University of Houston School of Law.
Brown received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from The University of Texas School of Law, where he graduated with honors and was a member of the Texas Law Review and Order of the Coif. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1981 and is board certified in personal injury trial law.
