AUSTIN, TX— Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today announced its endorsement of David McArthur, a lifelong Texan and proven conservative leader, for the Republican nomination for State Representative in District 121. TLRPAC is backing McArthur against the current Representative, Marc LaHood, after LaHood repeatedly sided with his trial lawyer donors to obstruct commonsense lawsuit reforms that protect Texas families, job creators, and taxpayers.
“David McArthur is a lifelong Texan, conservative businessman, and devoted family man with a proven record of service to his community and state,” said TLR Vice Chairman Emerson Hankamer on behalf of TLRPAC. “From creating jobs in the energy sector to serving on the Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation Board, McArthur has consistently championed faith, family, and Texas values. He will deliver results in Austin by protecting taxpayers, defending property rights, and ensuring the Texas Miracle will continue to thrive.
“Marc LaHood, on the other hand, isn’t voting for San Antonio families—he’s voting for the trial lawyers who fund his campaign. Even before LaHood helped kill commonsense lawsuit reforms being considered by the Texas Legislature in May of this year, he switched his focus from criminal defense to personal injury law—a practice for which he has little training or skill—in February 2025, then accepted almost a million dollars in campaign contributions from trial lawyers and their allies.
“Many of his new ‘friends’ are long-time Democrat mega-donors. He voted with Democrats and against Governor Greg Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick on measures to stop lawsuit abuse. Then, to make matters worse, LaHood voted against property tax relief for Texas homeowners.”
Here are some of the facts about Marc LaHood:
- Marc LaHood was a Democrat until suddenly declaring his candidacy as a Republican for Bexar County District Attorney in 2021.
- He had been a criminal lawyer for 17 years, since being licensed. He has no real experience in any other kind of law.
- He was a criminal defense lawyer when he was elected to be a State Representative in November 2024.
- In June 2025, one month after helping kill legislation to prevent lawsuit abuses by personal injury trial lawyers, LaHood raised $1.27 million in less than two weeks—a majority (94%) of which came from personal injury trial lawyers having deep Democrat connections, their firms, their PACs, and their medical provider allies. The contributions include:
– $200,000 from Texans for Truth & Liberty PAC, funded 100% by the Democrat trial firm Arnold & Itkin, which is headquartered in Houston
– $100,000 from Witherite Law Group, a personal injury firm whose only Texas presence is in Dallas/Fort Worth
– $100,000 from Joe A. Gamez Law Firm, a San Antonio personal injury firm
– $50,000 from Villarreal & Begum, a personal injury firm that also gave $15,000 to House Democratic Caucus Chair Trey Martinez Fischer the same week
– $50,000 from Angel Reyes & Associates, a Dallas-based personal injury firm
– $30,000 from George Salinas Injury Lawyers, a San Antonio personal injury firm
